THE GOD OF JUSTICE
Marvellous March day 12
THE GOD OF JUSTICE
Lord I thank you for being a just God and my justifier, because I believe in Jesus Christ
Romans 3:26
"he did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus." NIV
"to declare, I say, at this time, His righteousness: that He might be just, and the justifier of him that believeth in Jesus." King James version
"He did this to show us today that he is completely right and fair. He accepts people as right with himself if they believe in Jesus." Easy English bible
"He did this to show us today that he is completely right and fair. He accepts people as right with himself if they believe in Jesus." Good news translation
25-26 "God sacrificed Jesus on the altar of the world to clear that world of sin. Having faith in him sets us in the clear. God decided on this course of action in full view of the public—to set the world in the clear with himself through the sacrifice of Jesus, finally taking care of the sins he had so patiently endured. This is not only clear, but it's now—this is current history! God sets things right. He also makes it possible for us to live in his rightness." The message
"And when the season of tolerance came to an end, there was only one possible way for God to give away his righteousness and still be true to both his justice and his mercy—to offer up his own Son. So now, because we stand on the faithfulness of Jesus, God declares us righteous in his eyes!" TPT
I THINK WE NEED TO READ MORE OF THIS CHAPTER TO FULLY GRASP WHAT ROMANS 3:26 IS SAYING TO US
Romans 3: 21-31
21-24 But in our time something new has been added. What Moses and the prophets witnessed to all those years has happened. The God-setting-things-right that we read about has become Jesus-setting-things-right for us. And not only for us, but for everyone who believes in him. For there is no difference between us and them in this. Since we've compiled this long and sorry record as sinners (both us and them) and proved that we are utterly incapable of living the glorious lives God wills for us, God did it for us. Out of sheer generosity he put us in right standing with himself. A pure gift. He got us out of the mess we're in and restored us to where he always wanted us to be. And he did it by means of Jesus Christ.
25-26 God sacrificed Jesus on the altar of the world to clear that world of sin. Having faith in him sets us in the clear. God decided on this course of action in full view of the public—to set the world in the clear with himself through the sacrifice of Jesus, finally taking care of the sins he had so patiently endured. This is not only clear, but it's now—this is current history! God sets things right. He also makes it possible for us to live in his rightness.
27-28 So where does that leave our proud Jewish insider claims and counterclaims? Cancelled? Yes, cancelled. What we've learned is this: God does not respond to what we do; we respond to what God does. We've finally figured it out. Our lives get in step with God and all others by letting him set the pace, not by proudly or anxiously trying to run the parade.
29-30 And where does that leave our proud Jewish claim of having a corner on God? Also canceled. God is the God of outsider non-Jews as well as insider Jews. How could it be otherwise since there is only one God? God sets right all who welcome his action and enter into it, both those who follow our religious system and those who have never heard of our religion.
31 But by shifting our focus from what we do to what God does, don't we cancel out all our careful keeping of the rules and ways God commanded? Not at all. What happens, in fact, is that by putting that entire way of life in its proper place, we confirm it.
Gods sacrifice of Jesus shows he is just and consistent in acting in accordance to his own character
God showed he was Just. His sacrifice of his son for our sin made it possible for him to offer us eternal life, without leaving human sin unpunished. In addition to his Love , God demonstrated His justice, His righteousness. More than that God also wanted to be the justifier of those who have faith in Jesus. Only the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross accomplished both of these.
Gods sacrifice of Jesus made is possible for God to offer eternal life to humanity, without ignoring sin.
The Old Testament times of sacrificial offerings was a temporary suspension of judgment on sins. Christs coming was the "appointed time" when God finally delt with the sin of mankind.
The sacrifice of Christ for sin was the ultimate sacrifice that God demonstrated for all to see.
This is shown through the New testament, the Gospels, God sacrificing his own son to make us right with him, to take away all our sins . This was God demonstrating his righteousness and justice demonstrating his Love.
Gods sacrifice of Jesus was and is the ultimate answer to mankind's salvation.
This verse is saying even though we have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God our sins have already been punished, they have been paid for with the blood of Jesus. God has become the justifier, he changed his verdict of us from guilty to redeemed
The bible tells us " for the wages of sin is death, but the gift of god is eternal life in Christ. We need to confess our sins to God, turning to Jesus for salvation and forgiveness, accepting his gift of salvation and forgiveness. This means leaving our old way of living behind. We must turn from the old, leaving it all behind, striving to live like Jesus and model his ways always.
